W&S Motorsport continues at the podium during the second round of GT4 Winter Series at Portimão, Portugal.

The team took another overall podium in the Endurance race with Gabbay and Schreyer while Horrell and Gründel finished in the podium in Pro-Am for all three races.

In a weather changing weekend, the W&S Motorsport again faced a lot of challenges on the Autodromo do Algarve.

In car #30, Paraplegic driver Tim Horrell and Nico Gründel were consistent enough during their respective sprint races to secure podiums in Pro-Am class, finishing second and third respectively.

In car #31, Maximilian Schreyer had to retire during Race 1 due to some technical issues, despite fighting for the lead at the first stages of the race. It was not easy for Alon Gabbay either, who had to fight hard to finish fourth in Race 2.

Then on the Endurance race, Maximilian Schreyer was fighting for the lead of the race in the early laps. The young German driver after several attempts managed to lead the race despite the wet weather conditions. But car #31 got a penalty due to a contact while taking the lead which was served by teammate, Alon Gabbay who despite that, proved that the race was not over. The Israeli driver went from fifth to third to complete a phenomenal comeback and another podium for the pair.
Meanwhile, car #30 also proved a great pace and completely dominated Pro-Am class to take sixth place overall and class victory once again.

W&S Motorsport leaves Portugal rounds with the pair Schreyer-Gabbay in fourth place at the overall teams’ standings while Horrell-Gründel are sixth overall but leading the field in Pro-Am class.

Quotes after the race:
Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal of W&S Motorsport:
“It was an up and down weekend for us. The drivers learned a lot and improved a lot. We could have been a bit luckier with our first win in Pro class. But overall, we won again in Pro-Am, and we got a lot of trophies and points. So, we are looking forward to race in Valencia again.”

Tim Horrell, Driver for #30:
“During first race I struggled a bit with the car, but we managed to come home with a class podium. Then on the Endurance race me and Nico we felt very quick, and we have got a very good result overall and another Pro-Am win, which makes this as a good weekend.”

Maximilian Schreyer, Driver for #31:
“It was a bit of unlucky weekend as we could not finish race 1, and then on race 3 the penalty did not allow us to take our first win. But once again I have learnt a lot, and we take good and valuable points for us.”

Nico Gründel, Driver for #30:
“We felt quick overall despite the changing weather conditions. We secured a lot of points and the victory in Pro-Am during the endurance race, so I am happy with our performance.”

Alon Gabbay, Driver for #31:
“It has not been an easy weekend, but we have fought hard together with my team mate to secure a lot of points. Again top 3 in both races in Pro class is a positive result and I am looking forward to Valencia for more.”

The next round of GT4 Winter Series will take place on 15th and 16th of February in Valencia, Spain.
