Perfect Weekend for Maxmore W&S Motorsport Driver Moritz Berrenberg in the Porsche GT4 #927
A weekend to remember: Moritz Berrenberg claimed victory in both races at the China GT with the Porsche GT4 #927 under the banner of Maxmore W&S Motorsport, topping both the overall GTS classification and the AM classon each occasion. With strong qualifying results, two strategically flawless races and an outstanding driving performance, Berrenberg proved emphatically that he belongs at the very front of the field.
An Impressive Championship
One look at the paddock made it clear: the China GT has developed into a top-class championship. With 27 cars competing in the GTC/GTS classification, the level has risen significantly, and the highly competitive drivers across all classes have demonstrated convincingly that the series belongs among the world’s elite in GT motorsport. For Berrenberg, it was a weekend that showed what is possible when driver, team and strategy come together perfectly.
Qualifying
Free practice already hinted that Berrenberg and his team had the potential to challenge at the front – even though there was still more to extract from both the car and the driver. Qualifying confirmed this impressively: in Q1, Berrenberg set the fourth fastest time overall and secured pole position in the GTS AM class. Q2 followed with third overall and second in class – a strong platform heading into both races.
Race 1
The first race was turbulent. Multiple safety car phases created a chaotic race environment, but Berrenberg remained focused and seized every opportunity. He gained a position into Turn 1 on the opening lap and used GTC traffic asa buffer between himself and the next GT4 car – a clever move that allowed him to find his own rhythm. The team executed a perfect strategic undercut, moving Berrenberg into a decisive position. He made the decisive overtakeshortly before the final safety car and crossed the line to take the overall GTS class victory.
Race 2
The second race was equally strong. The car felt perfectly balanced throughout. After an intense battle with a BMW in the opening laps, Berrenberg fought back the position immediately and began building a gap. He then set hissights on the two leading Toyotas ahead. Once again, the team delivered a flawless undercut at the pit stop, putting Berrenberg into the lead. From there, he managed the position with consistent pace and composure to secure a second class victory – making it a perfect weekend.
Voice of the Weekend
Moritz Berrenberg (#927) was beaming after the double victory: “It was a fantastic weekend overall and very impressive to see how much the championship has evolved. The level has clearly stepped up – a large grid and verystrong drivers in every class. From free practice onwards, we showed that we have the pace to be right at the front. The team did an incredible job this weekend – from the setup to the strategy and the execution in the pit lane. A hugethank you to everyone involved.”
