Maxmore W&S Motorsport celebrated a perfect race weekend at the SRO GT Cup at Shanghai International Circuit. In a highly competitive field of 33 vehicles, Moritz Berrenberg secured both AM class victories in the #927 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS, underlining the team’s international success record.
In Saturday’s first race, Berrenberg demonstrated strong performance. Following the safety car phase, he overtook Toyota driver Cao Qikuan and crossed the finish line in sixth place overall, securing the class victory in the AM category. In Sunday’s second race, the German driver engaged in an intense battle with Ye Sichao from Gaha Harmony Racing Team. After a temporary lead change, Berrenberg prevailed with an impressive performance to celebrate his second AM class victory of the weekend.
“What an incredible race weekend – I’m still overwhelmed!” exclaims Moritz Berrenberg. “Winning here and standing on the Formula 1 podium in front of this huge crowd and electrifying atmosphere is a very special feeling. We came here with the goal of winning the AM class, and we not only achieved that – we did it twice, exceeding our own expectations. A big thank you to my team W&S Motorsport and especially to Daniel for the perfect preparation of the car. Without the combined effort of the entire team, this wouldn’t have been possible.”
Team Principal Daniel Schellhaas is equally enthusiastic: “This was our third race in China and our sixth victory in six races! I’m proud that we can transfer our success from Europe to China. This weekend was particularly challenging! We had a large starting field and a fantastic atmosphere with the many spectators during the Formula 1 weekend. Many thanks to Maxmore and especially to Moritz for this opportunity. We look forward to more races in Asia and expanding our program there!”
The SRO GT Cup, which was held as the official support program for the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix, celebrated a successful debut weekend at Shanghai International Circuit. The races were broadcast live on both national streaming platforms and SRO’s “GT World” YouTube channel.
