From a crash on Saturday to the podium on Sunday – An emotional and challenging Norisring weekend.

W&S Motorsport experienced a weekend of extremes during the second race weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany at the Norisring. In races three and four of the season, the team faced two retirements on Saturday, before the tide turned on Sunday with the first podium finish of the season for Lachlan Robinson and Oskar Kristensen.

Qualifying 1 and Race 1: Challenging Saturday

Saturday morning’s qualifying for Race 1 delivered solid starting positions for W&S Motorsport. Hendrik Still secured fourth on the grid with the #1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS, while Maximilian Schreyer (#32) qualified in sixth. Lachlan Robinson (#31) started from P8, and Alon Gabbay (#30) from P10.

These positions raised hopes for a successful first race – but reality had other plans. While Gogollok and Still brought the #1 Porsche home in a valuable fifth place, the other teams faced significant setbacks. Robinson was squeezed by rivals in the very first corner, which led to an early retirement for the #31 Porsche.

The race for the #32 Porsche also turned out dramatically. Maximilian Schreyer had a promising first stint, but later, Luciano Schneider made contact with the concrete wall and had to retire the car with 20 minutes to go. Gore and Gabbay (#30) fought their way to P14, securing championship points.

Qualifying 2 and Race 2: Spectacular Comeback

Friday saw qualifying for the second race. Oskar Kristensen claimed fourth on the grid with the #31 Porsche, followed by Philipp Gogollok (#1) in fifth. Luciano Schneider (#32) qualified in eighth, while Tommi Gore (#30) started the crucial race from P15.

What followed on Sunday was an impressive comeback story. Robinson and Kristensen rewarded the team’s efforts with a fantastic drive to third place. The closing minutes were especially thrilling, as Lachlan Robinson engaged in an intense battle for third and successfully defended the position.

I’m super happy with the weekend. We had a fantastic car, perfect pit stops, and we were on pace the whole time,” Oskar Kristensen beamed after the race. “To finish as the best Porsche in P3 – I’m just really pleased with the weekend.”

Lachlan Robinson was visibly moved by his first podium in the ADAC GT4 Germany:

I couldn’t be happier. P3 overall, P2 in the Junior class. Oskar did a great job in the first stint, and then it was up to me to bring it home. My first podium in the ADAC GT4 Germany – I’m very happy.”

Mixed Results and Team Spirit

While Robinson and Kristensen celebrated, the other teams continued to face difficulties on Sunday. Still and Gogollok (#1) finished P14, Gabbay and Gore (#30) came in P17, and the #32 Porsche of Schneider and Schreyer retired early once again.

The weekend was very mixed – we had the pace, but no luck in the race,”

summarized  Philipp Gogollok.

“Due to the contact, we lost a lot of points in the championship. Now it’s going to be tough to achieve further success in the coming races, but we’ll give it our all.”

Despite the challenges, Alon Gabbay emphasized the strong team atmosphere:

“This weekend wasn’t the best. It started promising but got harder and harder. Driving on the last position today with a puncture wasn’t exciting. But we’re learning with every race. I just want to thank the team for their great work – this team feels like family to me.”

The next ADAC GT4 Germany weekend takes place from August 8th to 10th at the Nürburgring.
