W&S Motorsport started 2025 season in good form after securing multiple podiums and class victories during the opening round of GT4 Winter Series in Estoril, Portugal.
The paraplegic driver, Tim Horrell was the most successful driver in the team during the weekend. The American driver under the #31 car provided a great spectacle, taking victory in Pro-Am during race 1, and Race 3 alongside car teammate, Nico Gründel who also managed to finish third in Race 2.
In car #30, Alon Gabbay and Maximilian Schreyer showed a good place in both races. The Israeli driver was fourth overall in a dry condition Race 1. But for Race 2 and 3 the rain hit the Autódromo Estoril and that put an extra challenge on Schreyer who showed great speed to finish P3 in Pro class. In Races 3, the 16-year-old started the race and did a dominant run that let Alone Gabbay come home to second place overall for the car 30.
Quotes after the race:
Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal of W&S Motorsport:
“It is always a great feeling to start the new season the same way as we left 2024. To start with 5 podiums out of the potential 6 means it was a great start. All the drivers in the team showed a great pace and this is a great setting point to start the season and improve.”
Tim Horrell, Driver for #31:
“The hand controls feels a lot better this year, the team did a great job with the car. We did a good start on Race 1 and we managed to keep our rivals behind during races.”
Maximilian Schreyer, Driver for #30:
“I had a lot of fun, although the mistakes I made I managed to recover. I have learned a lot, and this is the main goal in this championship. I can’t thank enough the team for this debut race in GT4.”
Nico Gründel, Driver for #31:
“It was a challenge to have a wet race, but I think we managed well in Race 2. And then in Race 3 along with Tim we did a good step ahead and we got the most out of ourselves”
Alon Gabbay, Driver for #30:
“It was my first time in the rain in Estoril, so I didn’t want to push too much on that, anyway a second place is a good result in Race 3 after a challenging race 1.”
