Maxmore W&S Motorsport and Moritz Berrenberg (#927, Porsche GT4) deliver strong fightbacks in the China GT at Zhuhai
A combative weekend for Maxmore W&S Motorsport and Moritz Berrenberg (#927, Porsche GT4) in the China GT at Zhuhai. Despite a less-than-ideal qualifying, the driver demonstrated his potential in both races and delivered strong fightbacks – before an incident in the closing stages denied a possible class victory in Race 2.
Qualifying
Qualifying did not go to plan. Berrenberg secured P10 overall and P4 in the AM class for Race 1, and P8 overall and P2 in class for Race 2. The task was clear: it would have to be a fight from the back to the front.
Race 1 – Wet, but Strong
The first race in the rain developed into a convincing performance. The start was given behind the safety car, and a delayed reaction from the car ahead at the restart initially cost valuable time. Nevertheless, Berrenberg worked his way forward consistently and crossed the finish line as P5 overall and P2 in class – a solid result for the championship.
Race 2 – Drama on the Finish Line
On a wet track, Berrenberg made a strong start and gained three positions on the opening lap. After intense early-race duels, he fought his way up to P3 overall and P1 in the AM class and held both positions for the majority of the race. Shortly before the end, a rival hit him from behind, damaging the car and leaving the rear of the Porsche extremely unstable. Despite the difficult conditions, Berrenberg fought to the very end – but on the final lap, the rear broke loose while attacking for P2 in the last sector. The resulting loss of control sent him into the gravel right before the finish line, ending what had been a dominant class lead.

Moritz Berrenberg (#927): “It was a tough weekend with a bitter ending. I had both races well under control, but sometimes as a racing driver you switch off your head and take too much risk. I will learn from it and come back stronger.”
