W&S Motorsport Enters the 2026/27 GT4 Winter Series

GT4 Winter Series in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and first race miles in the new 911 GT4 R – driver seats for all events available now

Ofterdingen, 29 September 2026 – W&S Motorsport confirms its entry in the 2026/27 GT4 Winter Series by GEDLICH Racing. At the events in Portugal and Spain, the team from Ofterdingen will run the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, and driver seats are available from today. New this winter: drivers can already take the new Porsche 911 GT4 R out under race conditions – outside the classification and as targeted preparation for the 2027 summer season.

Defending champions in winter

The GT4 Winter Series has long been a fixed part of W&S Motorsport’s season preparation. Since 2024 the team has used the winter months on the Iberian Peninsula to prepare drivers for their programmes in ADAC GT4 Germany, the GT4 European Series or the Nürburgring Endurance Series – and with success: in 2025 W&S Motorsport won the drivers‘ title in the PRO/AM class, followed in 2026 by the drivers‘ title in the AM class.

The format is ideal for building a lot of track time in a short period. Every event comprises two test days, two qualifying sessions, two 30-minute sprint races and a 60-minute race with a mandatory pit stop. Drivers are classified in PRO, PRO/AM and AM, plus the Club class and the Cayman Trophy. The cars are homologated GT4 machines with Balance of Performance on control tyres from Pirelli, and every race is streamed live. The series is open to drivers with a national or international licence – as a solo entry or as a driver pairing.

The 911 GT4 R: a winter’s head start on 2027

From the 2027 season W&S Motorsport is aligning its programme with the Porsche 911 platform. The new 911 GT4 R will be the centrepiece in ADAC GT4 Germany, the GT4 European Series, the NLS, the GT Summer Series and the China GT. As the car’s homologation for GT4 racing is still pending, the 911 GT4 R will run outside the classification in the GT4 Winter Series.

For drivers who want to race the 911 GT4 R in 2027, this is a rare opportunity: they get to know the new car months before the season starts, work out the set-up together with the W&S Motorsport engineers and build up their own data – under real race conditions rather than in testing alone. The 911 GT4 R is based on the 911 GT3 of the 992.2 generation and uses key body structures of the 911 Cup. Its 4.0-litre flat-six, sequential six-speed dog-ring gearbox and four-plate racing clutch make it the most demanding GT4 Porsche to date – and the direct link to the 911 GT3 Cup.

The package for drivers

With its winter programme, W&S Motorsport is addressing juniors moving up from karting into GT racing, amateurs and newcomers, as well as experienced drivers who want to stay sharp during the off-season – Nordschleife regulars included. Besides full race weekends, drivers can take part in the test days only or get to know the car and the team on a taster day.

The package includes professional data and video analysis with a dedicated data engineer, coaching by experienced drivers and preparation on the team’s own racing simulator in Ofterdingen. It is complemented by the W&S Driver Academy and its three pillars: Driver’s Skills, Driver’s Health and Driver’s Management.

Voices

Daniel Schellhaas (Team Principal, W&S Motorsport): “The GT4 Winter Series has always paid off for our drivers – the titles of the last two years show how well you can prepare for a season here. This winter we are going one step further: anyone who wants to race the 911 GT4 R with us in 2027 can get to know the car under race conditions right now. You can hardly give yourself a bigger head start for the new season.”

Robin Selbach (GEDLICH Racing): “W&S Motorsport is one of the most successful teams in our series, and we are delighted that the team is back with us this winter. The fact that Porsche’s next GT4 generation, the 911 GT4 R, is covering its first race miles with us underlines the standing of the GT4 Winter Series as a preparation platform for the international GT4 season.”
