W&S Motorsport in Spa: A Faultless Weekend and Important Championship Points

Pole position for Tom Kieffer, five class podiums and a faultless weekend in the Ardennes

Stavelot, 1 September 2026 – At the GT Summer Series round at Spa-Francorchamps, W&S Motorsport had exactly the weekend it had set out to have: get through without mistakes, reach the finish and take championship points home. The team lined up at the legendary Ardennes circuit with car #30 (Alexander Danzer / Gökay Kutlu) and car #31 (Tom Kieffer).

Test and Free Practice

In Thursday’s test all drivers improved noticeably and posted consistently solid times. Friday’s free practice ran smoothly as well – the cars completed their runs cleanly, without a single technical issue.

Qualifying – Class Pole for Tom Kieffer

In qualifying Tom Kieffer showed that you do not forget how to race that quickly: after a year without a single kilometre in a race car he was immediately back up to speed and took class pole position straight away. In the second qualifying session the team confirmed its strong form and again came close to securing class pole.

Race 1 – From Pole Into the Lead

Starting from pole, Tom Kieffer took the lead and put in a strong performance, even overtaking a Pro GT4 driver during the race and holding the position for several laps. After contact with the Pro driver he had to give the place back – and his class rival came past him in the same move.

In the sister car, Alexander Danzer meanwhile put in solid lap times and secured P3 in class.

Race 2 – A Slicks Debut in the Rain

It was a first for Gökay Kutlu: out on slicks as the rain began to fall – a demanding task that he handled confidently, bringing the car home in P3 in class.

Tom Kieffer also drew on his experience in the #31: he kept the pace consistently high, worked his way closer to the car ahead step by step and clawed back valuable seconds along the way.

Race 3 – P2 After a Strong Team Effort

Gökay Kutlu kept the Audi ahead of him in check with focused lap times despite a very strong driver at its wheel, then handed the car over to Alexander Danzer, who held his own with consistent pace. A safety car period, triggered by the retirement of that Audi, bunched the field up once more. Even though it was not quite enough for the jump to P1 in the end, P2 in class remains a strong result for the duo.

Tom Kieffer: “For me it was simply about getting my hands on a steering wheel again after a long time. It was the perfect opportunity, at my home track. And on top of that I managed a pole position and two podiums with P2. It was a perfect race weekend for me and proof that you do not forget how to race that quickly. A big thank you to the whole team!”

Gökay Kutlu: “Spa was a very instructive and successful weekend for me. After the ‘longer’ break I almost forgot that I have only been doing all of this for barely five months. The track is extremely demanding, and the changing conditions in particular added further challenges. Many thanks to the team for their strong work across the entire weekend!”

Alexander Danzer: “For me it was, as always, another learning weekend on a very demanding but absolutely superb circuit. It was important to us to take as many points as possible out of the weekend. Fortunately the technical side played along too – so thanks as well to everyone in the team for the great work. A big thank you also to our coach Lachlan, who once again did a top job with us and the engineers.”
