The sixth round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series delivered a weekend full of emotions for W&S Motorsport. Leading the way, the #962 CMS Porsche celebrated a well-deserved class victory – a result that reflects the strong performance of the entire team.
Friday – First Runs in the Sunshine
Under bright sunshine and summer temperatures, the teams took to the track for their first runs. In the morning, the Grand Prix circuit was used, before the afternoon brought the usual training sessions on the full layout.
Qualifying – A Solid Starting Position for All Cars
Qualifying proved promising for all four cars. The strongest performance came from #962 (CMS), who secured P1 in class (P33 overall) – a strong statement ahead of the race. #982 (CK-Modelcars) also impressed with P4 in the AM class (P52 overall). #164 (Das Massivhaus) secured P4 in class (P41 overall), while #961 (Häberle) lined up P5 in class (P38 overall).
Saturday – Battle in Extreme Heat
The 4-hour race turned into a true test of endurance for man and machine alike in extreme heat. The day brought moments of joy – but also moments of bitter disappointment.
#962 – CMS Porsche | P1 Class / P22 Overall
The highlight of the day belonged to Lorenz Stegmann and Moritz Oberheim. Starting from pole position, the duo initially dropped back slightly – but stayed calm and drove their own consistent, error-free pace. As the race progressed, they worked their way back to the front and found themselves at the top of the class once again. The result: a class victory and P22 overall – a strong performance under the most demanding conditions. With three poles in three NLS rounds, the #962 team continues to underline its quality impressively.
#982 – CK-Modelcars Porsche | P4 Class / P36 Overall
Christoph Krombach, Oliver Kunz and Lion Düker delivered a flawless race. During the pit stop, the air hose of the pneumatic jack failed – but the team kept their composure and quickly switched to the classic floor jack the old-school way. In the end, P4 overall – hard earned and well deserved. Through consistent point scoring and the retirement of the previous championship leader, #982 jumps from P6 to P1 in the AM championship – the lead has been taken.
#961 – Häberle Porsche | DNF
For Marius Rauer, Michal Makes and Toby Goodman, the race took an unfortunate turn. Following a light contact with a rival, Michal Makes was forced to retire the car – bringing their race to an early end. All those involved are unharmed.
#164 – Das Massivhaus Porsche | DNF
Jürgen Vöhringer was involved in an accident after being overlooked by another driver and suffering a heavy impact. He was forced to retire from the race early. Jürgen is doing well.
Quotes
Toby Goodman (#961 – Häberle):
“An unlucky race weekend. Qualifying didn’t go as planned, and then the crash – we didn’t make it to the finish. But that’s racing. We had the pace, and we’ll build on that at NLS 7.”
Michal Makes (#961 – Häberle):
“The start was good, but during the overtake I was unfortunately pushed off the track. That was really a shame – for the whole team as well. We’ll come back stronger.”
Lorenz Stegmann & Moritz Oberheim (#962 – CMS):
“The race was great for us. At times it looked difficult, but in the end we pulled through. All the cars were really fast today – but we stayed error-free. The points come at exactly the right time in the championship.”
Christoph Krombach (#982 – CK-Modelcars):
“A massive heat battle at the Nürburgring. P4 in the AM class and some valuable points collected. Now we’re leading the championship – that makes me incredibly happy.”
Axel Randolph – Team Manager W&S Motorsport:
“A weekend with everything that motorsport is made of. A class victory that shows what our guys are capable of – and at the same time moments that take your breath away. We’re relieved that all drivers are safe and well. The team has my greatest respect for the clean work they delivered under these extreme conditions.”
Andreas Göbel – CMS:
“After the class victory at the 24h race, now back on top here too – these guys are simply incredible. Race after race they deliver. I’m really happy about our partnership and look forward every time to coming back to the Ring.”
