W&S Motorsport drivers Max Kronberg and Finn Zulauf took the lead in the Pro-Am classification in the GT4 European Series after a victory and second place in Monza. In two action-packed races on the historic circuit in Italy, they collected important points for the championship and have a 15-point lead over the runner-up ahead of the season finale.

After some bad luck in the first qualifying session and an unfortunate start to the race on Saturday, the duo in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #30 didn’t let themselves get rattled and finished in second place. They tackled Sunday’s race from second on the grid and a strong pace from both drivers enabled them to clinch their fourth win of the season.

Guest entrants Alon Gabbay and Fabio Rauer in the sister car #31 had little practice time on their debut at Monza due to many interruptions in the sessions and were unable to complete their test programme as planned. In the end, they finished 15th and 20th in the highly competitive Silver Cup.

Daniel Nilsson and Edvin Hellsten in the Nova Racing Porsche #27 secured another podium finish in the Pro-Am with third place on Saturday and another top 10 result on Sunday.

Max Kronberg and Finn Zulauf lead the Pro-Am drivers’ championship with 160 points. W&S Motorsport also occupies first place in the team standings with 177 points. The season finale will take place in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) from 28 to 30 November 2024.

Quotes after the race

Julia Spacek, Team Manager W&S Motorsport: “We are travelling home as leaders in the driver and team championships in the Pro-Am! Max and Finn delivered an incredible performance and won for the fourth time this season. Both races were very turbulent, but they didn’t let themselves get worked up and beat the competition with aplomb. It was Fabio’s first outing with the Porsche. Unfortunately, he and Alon didn’t have enough time to test due to incidents and many red flags in the practice sessions. That’s a shame and there would certainly have been more in it for them. For Daniel and Edvin and our partner team Nova Racing, it was the last weekend in the series this year for the time being and they both did well too. They thoroughly deserved their third place and we would be delighted if we could continue to celebrate success together in the future. We are now looking ahead to the season finale in Jeddah, where we will once again give our all to stay at the front. Many thanks to the team for the great and flawless work!“

Max Kronberg, Driver #30: “It was a very successful weekend for us with first and second place. It was important for the championship, before the weekend we still had a small gap and are travelling to the season finale with a 15-point lead. The race was very eventful and chaotic at times, but we got through almost faultlessly and the team did a very good job. I’m really looking forward to the street circuit in Jeddah and the last two races of the season!”

Alon Gabbay, Driver #31: “Monza wasn’t easy for us! My qualifying didn’t go as I expected and we ended up in P17. Race 1 went well for us, with lots of overtaking manoeuvres, and I am happy that Fabio managed to get us up to P15. Race 2 was disappointing, with a mistake from me, but I will learn from it and I am looking forward to the next race at the Red Bull Ring next week! Thanks to my team and to Fabio!”

Daniel Nilsson, Driver #27: “W&S Motorsport, together with Nova Racing, completed the third and final appearance in the GT4 European at Monza. Together we celebrated a third place in the Pro-Am in race 1. The cooperation between W&S Motorsport and Nova Racing was excellent and the results were better than expected. We would like to thank W&S Motorsport for a great effort and wonderful support during the three races in 2024!”
