W&S Motorsport can boast an incredible track record in 2024: 12x champion, 5x runner-up, 3 overall victories, 20 overall podiums, 43 class victories and 40 class podiums. Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas’ team completed a total of 60 races in the ADAC GT4 Germany, GT4 European Series, Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS), GTC Race, Porsche Sports Cup Germany and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in the 2024 season.
In the ADAC GT4 Germany, AVIA W&S Motorsport won all four championship titles in the drivers’, team, junior and trophy classifications, making history in the German GT4 racing series. In this series alone, the Porsche racing team was overall winner three times, second overall four times and third overall seven times, class winner 13 times, second in class 14 times and third in class six times. At the season highlight at the Norisring, the three AVIA W&S Motorsport Porsche started from first, second and third place, equaling the record set last year at the Sachsenring, where the team from Ofterdingen achieved this for the first time.
At the penultimate race weekend, Finn Zulauf and Josef Knopp in the AVIA racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #31 were still in second place in the drivers’ standings, 38 points behind. The juniors rewarded themselves for a highly successful season with an impressive fightback and were crowned champions in the drivers’ and junior standings at the season finale in Hockenheim. The 20-year-old Zulauf took pole position four times and finished second twice in qualifying. Max Kronberg became Trophy Champion ahead of Tano Neumann and AVIA W&S Motorsport won the Team Championship again after 2023. An impressive track record for the team and all drivers!
At the fourth round of the NLS in August, there was great jubilation for the first time this year at the early championship win in the Cup3 class of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PETN) with the CMS Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport #962 of Moritz Oberheim, Joshua Bednarski and Lucas Daugaard. In the overall NLS championship, the trio fought for the title right to the end and finished runners-up.
Daniel Blickle, Tim Scheerbarth and David Jahn in the AVIA racing Porsche 992 GT3 Cup #120 secured the runner-up title in the Cup2 class for drivers and teams and provided even more reason to celebrate in the 6-hour race: the trio finished third overall and claimed the first NLS overall podium for W&S Motorsport.
In the GT4 European Series, the title fight came to a head at the season finale in Jeddah. Max Kronberg and Finn Zulauf traveled to Saudi Arabia as leaders of the standings with a 15-point lead in the Pro-Am championship and had to cope with two setbacks after two accidents in testing and the first race. Before the final race, they were in second place with four points and did not give up. In a dramatic race, they achieved the almost impossible and secured the championship title in the Pro-Am drivers’ classification and the team championship for W&S Motorsport.
Luciano Schneider competed in the Porsche Sports Cup Germany in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport entered by W&S Motorsport and caused a sensation in his very first year. The 17-year-old won three championship titles and was champion in the overall, team and class standings. He kept a clean sheet in the twelve sprint races of the season, winning all twelve. He also finished on the overall podium five times.
Moritz Berrenberg clinched the championship in the Trophy classification in his first season in the GTC Race and even finished third on the GT4 podium at the Nürburgring. Paraplegic Tim Horrell followed in his team-mate’s footsteps at the season highlight on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps racetrack and finished second in the Trophy Championship.
“It is almost unbelievable what W&S Motorsport has achieved and won this year. Thanks to everyone in the team – all the drivers, partners and sponsors – who have supported us. Without you, all these successes this year and in previous years would not have been possible,” says Team Principal Daniel Schellhaas.
Team Principal Patrick Wagner adds: “I am proud of our team, who give their all every day to get even better and be even more successful. Thank you for this unique season!”
