W&S Motorsport kicked off their ADAC GT4 Germany campaign at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben this weekend. In a highly competitive field, the team secured valuable points with the AVIA Porsche #1 of Hendrik Still and Philipp Gogollok, who finished fifth in both races.
“Overall, it’s been a solid start to the season,” reflects Hendrik Still. “Oschersleben has traditionally not been our strongest circuit, as we’ve seen in previous years. We maximized our package and collected important points. The car is virtually unmarked, and we maintained consistent presence in the leading pack.” Teammate Philipp Gogollok adds: “Of course, we’re aiming for podium finishes, and I’m confident we’ll achieve them as the season progresses.“
The weekend started promisingly for Oskar Kristensen and Lachlan Robinson in the W&S Porsche #31. After an impressive recovery drive from 13th to ninth place in the first race, Kristensen secured an excellent third position in Sunday’s qualifying. “We could have fought for pole position, but I made a small mistake in the penultimate corner,” explains the Danish driver. A collision in the opening lap of the second race forced the team to retire the damaged car shortly after the pit stop. However, the duo’s strong performance throughout the weekend and the seamless teamwork provide confidence for the upcoming races.
The Israeli-Jamaican pairing of Alon Gabbay and Tommi Gore delivered a solid performance in the Porsche #30, securing eighth place in the first race. Their hopes for another good result were dashed early in the second race following a crash in the opening lap.
Luciano Schneider and Maximilian Schreyer in the Porsche #32 showed steady improvement throughout the weekend. “We learned a lot this weekend,” says Schneider. “Friday started promisingly, and on Sunday, despite numerous incidents, we managed to bring the car home safely. We’re determined to come back stronger at the Norisring.“
Team Principal Daniel Schellhaas offers a balanced assessment of the weekend: “The red flag in the first qualifying prevented us better starting positions. We have lost two cars before the first corner in the second race, which was particularly unfortunate, impacting both our team and championship standings. On the other side, car number 1 collected crucial points in both races. As a team, Oschersleben has never been a circuit where we’ve particularly excelled, so we’re looking forward positively to the next ten races.“
